Wedding in the Astoria
After the knot has been tied, where to hold the wedding reception? There are events in our life that remain unforgettable, make your choice the Astoria, one of Budapest’s most prestigious hotels.
These two words best describe the four-star hotel built on the site of the mediaeval town walls and opened to the public in 1914. The hotel was modelled and named after the Waldorf Astoria created in New York by the Astor family.
The most recent major renovation completed in 2007 succeeded in preserving for the present and future the much admired tradition and classical elegance. As a result the hotel with a unique atmosphere awaits the young couple in the heart of the city, only a stone’s throw away from the bustle of Váci utca. The splendid furnishings and art objects radiate the elegance of past times, and guests can enjoy the original period atmosphere while surrounded by all the comforts provided by today’s technology.
It is an indication of the special character of the Astoria that the prestigious hotel with its classically elegant furnishings is often chosen as a location for films evoking the atmosphere of the period. Foreign films shot here include Being Julia and Perlasca, while scenes for the Hungarian films The Minister’s Affair and Relations were also filmed here

Café Astoria, our hotel’s elegant restaurant in the heart of the Inner City, and the attractive function rooms of Danubius Hotel Astoria offer their traditional 101-year-old hospitality for receptions for 20 to 130 guests, with an unforgettable banquet or a generous buffet table. We are able to provide a room for the wedding ceremony too.
The compositions created for the special occasion by the Astoria’s head chef give a real festive atmosphere to the wedding supper. On request we will also compile a traditional Hungarian wedding menu, bringing the flavours of a big country wedding to the table. Elegant menu cards, tables set with fine porcelain, sparkling glasses and beautiful floral compositions, silk covers on the chairs and courteous, attentive service all add to the enjoyment of the banquet.
The imposing, exceptionally elegant Empire room is ideal for wedding receptions. The 260 m2 floor space allows the comfortable seating of 80 to 160 persons.
The Green Salon decorated in various shades of green is an excellent place for wedding ceremonies.

At present the hotel has two room types:
Our Deluxe guest rooms, much larger than average and with exclusive design, are located in the historic wing.
